Peggy and her crew were involved in catering for 162 guests at my daughter's engagement just 2 weeks ago. Her quality service and looking after all guests and their tastes was something beyond description. All guests boasted so highly of the quality of all her food and they said they all will be going to her restaurant and using her for catering services in future.
Peggy is so innovative and listens to all special requirements as we had requested. I have not tasted such food provided by her in Australia as we have eaten at so many restaurants. Tonight we are going back to her restaurant. I would say to everyone who has not been to her restaurant to make a visit and try her cuisine cooked to your taste especially in hotnees. The Best Indian Restaurant in Australia.

Carlton Curry House ticks all the boxes. I went here with a large group of 15 and we all thought the food was outstanding. The prices are very reasonable and the servings are generous. The service is great, very friendly but not invasive. Upstairs caters for a large group. So if you’re into Indian food and would like to impress your friends, this is the venue for you!

I have eaten A Lot of butter chicken and Carlton Curry House had The Best butter chicken I have ever eaten! The Lamb Seekh Kebab, 2 other curries and Naan's we had were also beautiful. Service was fantastic.
I was impressed by the huge array of Gluten Free food available on the menu, including GF Naan! Would love to visit again!

Great in every way”

I've been to Carlton Curry House
several times with friends and
family. The food is always
excellent, served either hot or
less than hot according to your
requirements. Management is
friendly and tries very hard to
please, prices are inexpensive
and the decor in the smallish
eating area is very pleasant.
The wine list is small but
accessible, with several good
wines available by the glass.
Restaurants at this end of Lygon
Street generally offer a good
down-to-earth dining experience,
and Carlton Curry House is a
stand-out.
This is my favourite Indian
restaurant in a city that has
plenty to choose from.

Dear Adele
Thank you for your review,
feedback and acknowledgement .
It was the reward from you who
recognised our hard work.
Especially me, I always want my
patrons to enjoy our meals and
good times. Thanks for your
encouragement which meant a lot
to me. I will keep working hard
for my patrons, the quality of
food and service.
I told my staff, " we are there
and to feel like a business with
pleasure". We are there and
serve our patrons who pay for
our foods and services. We are
getting the pleasure when our
patrons enjoyed our foods and
services and to treat them as a
family, friends and guests. You
gave us the reward and pleasure
for our hard work. We are still
learning and correcting to
improve when someone is not
happy. I always try to solve the
solution how to improve next.
We look forward to seeing you
more and thanked for bringing
all your friends and family too.
Kind regards Peggy

I went here in the hope of
getting a good gluten-free meal
and was pleasantly surprised.
The wait staff were very well
informed and very helpful. I
even tried the gluten-free naan.
……….I would certainly take
friends here again, it was good,
standard Indian food with lovely
service and fantastic for anyone
with dietary requirements.

"A friend and I were in
Melbourne last week (Wed 10th
Feb 2010) and were looking for a
good restaurant on Lygon St. We
didn't really feel like Italian
so when we came across the
Carlton Curry House we thought
we'd give it a try.
Well I'm glad we did because it
was easily the best Indian food
we'd ever had. We're both from
Sydney and have eaten in many
Indian restaurants before but
the food at the Carlton Curry
House was rich in flavour and a
pleasure to eat.
Our waitress Monica was friendly
and helpful and the meal was
delightlly tasty and well priced
too.
I'd recommend anyone who likes
good quality Indian food to eat
at the Carlton Curry House. I'll
be back next time I'm in
Melbourne without a doubt!
Cheers, "

"It was quite by
accident that I
discovered this
hidden gem, and I am
glad that I did.
The service was
fantastic and
bettered only by the
wonderfully fresh,
delightfully
aromatic and
exceptionally tasty
food.
It is without a
doubt, the best
Indian food that I
have ever had.
You could tell that
everything was made
freshly on premises,
from the raiata to
the chutneys, to the
curry sauces and
each dish was
lovingly prepared
and beautifully
presented.
It is obvious that
the chef is
extremely passionate
about his food and
it really comes
through in the
flavours and
presentation.
We had the samosa,
the chicken tikka,
the Goan fish curry,
the chilli chicken
and garlic naan.
The highlights were
definitely the fish
curry and chicken
tikka - both cooked
with heat levels to
order and the burn
of the spices was
wonderfully
tempered, starting
slowly so as not to
overwhelm the
palette, and heating
up the mouth nicely
as one continued to
eat.
Ms Peggy, the owner
was a gracious host
and the waiter was
exceptionally
attentive. I
couldn't recommend
this place highly
enough.
If you like
Indian... actually,
if you like good
food full stop, you
have to check out
the Carlton Curry
house."

"We love the Carlton precinct but had virtually stopped coming because of the
monotony of wall-to-wall Mediterranean restaurants.
We do love Latin fare, but stumbling on Peggy's Carlton Curry House renewed our
interest in Lygon Street. The Indian cuisine is excellent; the wine list short
but good quality; the decor is simple and homely; the service is attentive and
unassuming. This is just as we like it.
It's the food that really matters here - we had traditional Indian samosas with
a zingy tamarind sauce, chicken Madras and subtle lamb Bhuna, accompanied by
rice, naan and pappadams, of course.
The lamb was simply exceptional and the other dishes were notably good. A
seriously good but cheap pinot noir made a great meal even better.
This Indian fare is as good as we've had anywhere in Melbourne.
And it's worth noting that we left seriously full with a lot of change from
$100.
That's the first time for ages!
The Carlton Curry House is sure to become a favourite of ours. We'll be back
soon."
